Racing Equipment

Racing equipment is a term that refers to the gear that a race team needs to race, but that isn’t necessarily tied to the car they are racing. For example, a wheel is not racing equipment; it is a race car part. An axle, likewise isn’t equipment, it’s a part. An impact wrench? Now that’s equipment.

By the same token, equipment is more essential than gear. A racing team could very well take the field without wearing any of the team logoed apparel. It would certainly seem odd, but it’s not against the rules. But for the team to show up without the funnels used to refill the gas tank bodes extremely poorly for their chances of winning.

So while racing equipment might not be in the limelight, it is a necessary foundation for any winning race team. A team without equipment would be something like a football team showing up to the big game with no pads. It would be reckless, and frankly dangerous. Not having a spare wrench could mean forfeiting the race because you couldn’t remove a worn out tire, and blowing a tire at 200 mph is no joke.
